Permanent Make-Up

Permanent make-up (tattoo) is a cosmetic procedure aimed at correcting the natural lines of the eyebrows, eyes, and lips, creating the desired contour and tone. Tattooing allows making individual facial features more vivid and expressive, creating a harmonious image, and hiding natural facial defects.

During permanent make-up, special dyes or pigments are injected superficially (1-3 mm deep) into the epidermis, while tattooing requires injections into a deeper dermal layer. As a result, a tattoo remains for life, and a painted make-up lasts 2 years on average.

The pigment in permanent make-up is selected strictly individually, the color palette is very wide: 40 pigments for lip tattooing, 30 pigments for eyebrow tattooing, and 10 for eyelid tattooing. You can choose an individual shade for different color types. Before the procedure, the patient's wishes are clarified, what color he/she would like to have after healing.

The whole procedure of permanent make-up lasts from 40 minutes to 1.5 hours. Swelling and redness persist for several days. However, the color appears in full force after about a month and then it becomes clear whether to do an additional procedure to consolidate the color or not.

At the Cosmetology and Plastic Surgery Center permanent make-up is done by certified cosmetologists with artistic education, members of the International League of Permanent Makeup Professionals.

Our clinic has been performing permanent make-up since 1994, and we have developed our own traditions, characterized by a very high quality tattoo:
- maximum naturalness of permanent make-up;

- high quality pigments and products. We use only high quality pigments, resistant to ultraviolet, which increases the duration of permanent make-up. For tattooing we use certified Italian and German pigments.

- treatment safety, protection from any infections (HIV, etc.) Permanent make-up is an invasive procedure, so all the conditions of its implementation and the equipment used meets the highest standards of medical institutions. All needles and caps for collecting pigments are disposable. During the procedure, thin and gentle needles are used in special packaging, and they are transported in protected boxes. All packages are opened in the presence of the patient.

The equipment in the office is treated with a special antiseptic before and after each session. The doctor wears a hat and a mask, which are changed after each patient. The specialist works at a very close distance, sometimes up to 3-5 cm, so there must be a protective barrier. The patient gets also prepared for the procedure putting on a disposable cap and a drape, so that no particles from clothing and hair get on the treated area during treatment.

Neat and well-groomed eyebrows draw attention to the eyes, make them bigger and more expressive. The eyebrows do not just decorate the face. Depending on the brow pattern, the face can change expression, be harsh, funny or sad. With permanent make-up, you can create a perfect eyebrow line while maintaining its naturalness.

There are several techniques of permanent eyebrow make-up:

1. Soft shading – is a technique, in which the sharp borders of the eyebrow shape are not drawn, but within these borders the shading is done in color with one, two or three shades.
2. Hair imitation technique is a technique of drawing each individual hair, it is considered more natural. When using the hair technique, you can choose the desired length and color of the hairs.

The following eyebrow defects can be corrected with permanent make-up:

- lack of eyebrows;
- lack of eyebrow integrity in case of scars, on which no hairs grow; in this case, you can optically recreate the hairs on the eyebrows;
- rare eyebrows;
- pale color, when the eyebrows are not visible on the face.

Correctly designed eyebrows dramatically change the look, they can visually enlarge small eyes and raise deep-set eyes.

When choosing the shape of the eyebrow, you should take into account the type and proportions of the whole face (length and width of the nose, the level of the eyebrow line, lips, the distance between the eyebrow and the mobile eyelid).
Conduction or local anesthesia is commonly used.

Before the procedure of permanent eyebrow makeup, a sketch is drawn, the eyebrows are aligned symmetrically. After the procedure, there is a slight swelling around the eyebrow and on the upper immobile eyelid that lasts about a day. Initially, the eyebrows are 10 tones darker than the color that will remain after healing. Then some of the pigment is washed out, some goes to a deeper skin layer, and the brow gets lighter. Crusts stay for 5-7 days, the final result by color can be judged in 2 weeks. An additional procedure is sometimes necessary and depends on the individual body characteristics. On average, the effect of the procedure lasts for 1.5 - 2 years.

With age, the lip contour often loses its definition and becomes somewhat blurred, while the lips get thinner. There appear vertical wrinkles, pronounced nasolabial folds and wrinkles in the corners of the mouth. Asymmetry, pallor, or blue color of the lips are common. All these visual imperfections can be removed with the help of tattooing.

When the pigment is injected at 1 mm, collagen synthesis is stimulated, and the wrinkles around the lips are slightly smoothed. Downturned mouth corners can be raised visually. Uniformity of width and volume of the upper and lower lips is achieved by shading. Thanks to tattooing, the lips acquire clear contours and an even and saturated color, close to natural.

Before the procedure, a sketch is necessarily drawn, which reveals all the nuances of the patient's lip shape, with an accent where to add or where to raise the lip contour. The shape of the patient's face is taken into account.

In order to visually augment thin lips, an indent is made from the vermillion border of the lips (up to 3 mm), the corners are darkened, and the middle parts of upper and lower lips are highlighted. The lips look fuller.

The pigment palette for lip tattooing includes natural, transparent and bright shades.

Before the procedure starts, the contour is drawn in pencil. After introducing the anesthesia, the expert applies the pattern based on the contour. The pattern is chosen together with the patient, depending on the facial proportions and the desired result. Conduction anesthesia is used.

For permanent lip make-up, both contouring and shading are performed.

An additional lip tattooing session is performed not earlier than a month after the first session. The healing period lasts 3 days, the swelling lasts no longer than 2 days, the crust is thin as a film. The pigment fixation takes 1-1.5 months. The effect of lip tattooing lasts on average 2-3 years.

Patients often ask if it is possible to get a tattoo in the presence of the herpes virus.

1. Prevention of herpes recurrence. The doctor prescribes anti-herpetic drugs according to a specific scheme.
2. It has been noticed that tattooing on the lips acts upon the nerve endings and the immune system in such a way that herpes recurrence after the procedure occurs less frequently.

Also, lip tattooing contributes to longer lipstick staying on the lips, there is no lipstick spreading over the contour.

Permanent eyelid makeup uses the technique of interciliary (inter-eyelash) shading. It is used when it is necessary to emphasize the beautiful shape of the eyes. Drawing between the eyelashes allows changing the eye shape, make it more round or almond-shaped, "raise" the corners of the eyes, visually enlarge the eyes and increase the density of the eyelashes. The inter-eyelash technique consists of multiple points between the eyelashes that are invisible to the outside eye, which make the eyelash line more expressive, but are not perceived as an "arrow".

In addition to the inter-eyelash technique, traditional "arrows" of any complexity are used to change the shape of the eyes.

Healing and color fixation are very fast. The pigment is injected 0.5-1 mm deep without affecting the follicle. Crusts stay for 5-7 days. Two weeks later it becomes clear whether an additional procedure is needed. Local anesthesia is often applied.

In addition to permanent make-up, you can also get an aesthetic dermopigmentation or intradermal tattoo, which can fight the following drawbacks:

- correct the color of scars after burns, injuries or surgical operations (for example, scar revision after cleft lip surgery).
- optically recreate scalp hair (trichopigmentation), eyelashes or eyebrows for patients who have undergone chemotherapy or suffer from alopecia, when neither eyelashes nor eyebrows grow.
- draw the nipple areola after breast reconstruction (following mastectomy) in the absence of pigment, correct its contour, and enhance the natural color of the areola.

Contraindications to permanent make-up include exacerbation of any chronic diseases, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menstruation, various neurological diseases (eg, epilepsy), as well as an active form of herpes.

There are no restrictions on the time of year for permanent make-up. The most important criterion is to make the procedure 10 days before the planned trip to the south. Staying in the sun or visiting a solarium reduces pigment retention.
